  JICOP is conducting research activities on the basis of a proper understanding of the important issues facing industry, gathering the latest information by means of attendance at international conferences, dispatching experts to various committees, and cooperation with domestic and international related agencies.

Continually gathering information regarding trends in international regulations by attending Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Technology and Economic Assessment Panel (TEAP), Technical Options Committee (TOC), and Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP).
Conducting surveys of information related to trends in countermeasure technology and alternative substances in cooperation with overseas government agencies and private organizations.
Encouraging experts in each field to conduct research activities by setting up an Expert Committee inside JICOP according to the needs as problems arise.
Conducting research projects under commissions from government offices and other authorities.

Research on the reduction of HFCs, PFCs and SF6 emissions and promotion of rational use.
Survey on the trends in countermeasures for global warming caused by alternative fluorocarbons.
Survey on applied instruments using carbon dioxide refrigerants.
Survey on the trends in destruction technology for ozone depleting substance (ODSs) in foreign countries.
Survey regarding the Kyoto Mechanism.
